Here's an excellent (and spectacular) exhibition of off-the-bounce counter-topspin table tennis - AND it's NOT new players, and Harimoto and Hirano Miu are not involved!!! It IS funny how people are now claiming this style of play is (1) new, and (2) invented by Harimoto and Hirano.

Actually we've seen a lot of people play like this since I got back into the sport 3 years ago.

I was there, and it was interesting to note that these were the rallies the crowd responded to most of all. When DN and LSW went at it hammer and tong, the crowd loved it. Conversely, they were not as generous in their appreciation of XX and LDS in their big looping rallies. And the crowd showed very, very little interest in the women's doubles between an attacking pair and a pair of... (you just know this is not going to be a good thing to say on this forum) defenders.

Harimoto is only just recently 15 years old...He doesn't really have the power and strength other players do to be playing away from the table. And men table tennis athletes are generally stronger than women table tennis athletes and play further from the table, while the women play closer to the table and get into these types of rallies.

Harimoto seems noticeably taller since last I watched one of his games.

The point at 4:23 really has to be seen to be believed. Great example of what angles can do for you. There's something about the camera angle (and perhaps the distance, and focal length used) that makes the ball look slow. Sort of like the tennis in that Billie Jean King movie last year - it kinda looked like playground speed tennis because of the way it was shot. Also what's bizarre is that the far end of the table seems wider than the near end.. which defies the laws of perspective (if you've been watching flat earth videos of late, "perspective" and "flerspective" get mentioned a lot).

He's pressed a little harder in this one. Yup, he does still cho. But at 5:40 he doesn't, and at the end of the match he's pretty quiet when he shakes hands.

He's really good but still an annoying kid simulation rachat de crédit surendettement. Do you really need to scream after eeeevvvvery friggin point?

It will be interesting to see how the Chinese team tries to counter his style.

Well, that's normal, I think. And it's also a way of encouraging the player.

I have difficulites with those screaming players .......
First game first points .. come one ....

I onces played againt such a player and he realy got under my skin.
Also screaming when I made a mistake, missed a service .. every point he got.
Even with a lucky netball he didn't excuse but gave himself a small fist without a scream.

I started doing weird s*** and even lost more :D
