Hello, Is there a return technique that would work for any type of serve particularly without knowing the spin direction? Thanks for your thought. |

No. Using pips out rubber may help return serves and make it easier but there's no such thing as universal serve return. |

The closest thing to that is late chop or push and there are no guarantees that the ball won't be driven past you or you won't misread the spin. |

Maybe if both players are using hardbat or sandpaper. |

STRAWBERRY returning techniques to cope all the slow dropped serving, except for Asuka Sakai's "hypersonic" serving. Ito Mima did made a huge havoc amongst China Team by using strawberry technique , the best effective returning technique in modern game. Be happy. PLAY THE GAME ALWAYS.. Frictionless anti on both sides just might do it |

What do you think of this one? It seems to work for all except may be very short serve? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj_pv2sRTjg Thanks. |

Yes, those half court service could annoy you to deaf. Mima Ito has developed her own way to deal with the such. Strawberry is the best effectual answer. Be happy/ |

All in all I'm quite sure that with an anti or with long pips you can easily dump every serve into the net or to your side of the table It won't be so easy with a regular rubber though I'm also pretty sure FZD can flick any serve but I don't think that's an option for the topic starter.. Overall I will say that if such thing as "universal return" existed and if it was efficient then our sport would be very boring and not as beautiful and as interesting as it is (as of now of course - you never now - they may decide to ban regular rubbers or something like that ). |

It is stupid to assume that there is a "universal" return for all services. Do you see Tennis players return the same way to an opponent's serve ? I dont think so. When even a slower spin game doesn't have a "universal" return why do you even EXPECT a higher spin game to have one ???? Especially the amount of deception, wildly varying spin/speed/height. The abundance of edge balls... if someone serves 10 edges on their serve, what "universal" return are you planning to do ????? |

A very light 45 degree push using long pips on very slow blade late after ball drops and aiming for the opponent's center will probably return just about any serve. As in keep it on the table. But, then you will be asking about a universal return for smashes... |
