Anyone got any tips for recording matches?

I am thinking about recording some of the matches at our club night, and also the several interclub events we have through the season. I have watched a number of amateur youtube videos and have noticed a few things. Recording from the behind and to the right of right handed players gives the best view of the action, and opposite for lefties. Having the scorer and score board visible really adds to the viewing quality as well - seeing the score and what people do under pressure.

As for equipment, I could put my bulky dslr on a tripod. I am wondering whether a go pro or other similar camera might be better. A lot of people record their tennis matches on go pros and the watchability of the videos is very good.

Well the best quality would be with a DSLR I think. With a good lens of course
But you can use a GoPro too. You can see some videos in my blog here (link in the signatre) - I've used both - the Sjcam M20 and the EOS M5. Overall the quality of the M5 is much better, but it can't beat the portability of the action cam + the video from the M20 is still good.
