The umpire/referee was from their team and didn't think anything was wrong. But in the end I suggested we replay the point. Anyway, thanks for the clarification on the rules. Good to know.

Hi all. I was an empire, and we empires are kidding about the most strange cases.

A very weird case is this:

What happens if a ball remains stopped on a net post in a middle of a point?

What do you think? (It was happed once at least).

You, the umpire, wander over to the net post & bump it so the ball falls off it. Whether the ball lands on the table or the floor you call a let as an outside event (something not caused by the players etc) has occurred to affect the course of the point. (For added kudos you could then give yourself a yellow card )

Treat it the same as if it comes to rest on the floor since the net post is not a part of the table.

I believe the net assembly is part of the net, so I would also call it a let.

I do cycling and i use that type of clothes to play TT and running shoes, of course i've not done any serious play (tournament) but could i use cycling bibs and/or jersey in a tournment ¿or even a skinsuit lol? (In fact i want to know if' i'm allowed to use my cycling jersey cause is made of dryfit and it's pretty comfortable, for the shorts i guess any running short will do it right?)

no long sleeves is a rule I believe
and probably no problems wearing Cycling shorts under other shorts

After a 36 years break, I'm playing TT again (or at least trying to play). I have played only in two occasions so far, but I'll be playing two or three times a week from now on.

I'm a penholder and, in my first session, the paddle has injured the skin of my middle finger. I solved the issue in my second session with a band-aid, but since then I became really curious about this: would be legal to wear a glove in the paddle hand? I have removed the thumb of a glove and it seems it could work - not improving my game of course, but at least giving me more confidence.

I do not intend to play tournaments, but of course I want to follow the rules - "just because". But the ITTF book of rules is mute about this.

I don't think anyone would care for social table tennis, but maybe some extra sanding or adding a cork placement for comfort will help

These are surely the best solutions, but my lack of experience in this field and the relative lack of proper materials in my country does not help.


That's great news! But I would feel even better knowing that some men are using gloves too...

If someone is really injured, I think it would be legal. There are a lot of disabled players who use gloves.
