Today I beat someone who I have played probably 15-20 times this month... he would always win. At first, I couldn't even score more than 10 points (to 21), then gradually I'd start getting 10-15 points and now it's usually 15+.
I finally beat him tonight 21-19 and did a victory lap, and then lost 3 times haha

but i finally beat him, and i'll do it again

i was using my trusty Butterfly Brian Pace racket, and can't wait to get the one i ordered from here

Probably feels great! :D

Now you have to figure out what were you doing, and what your mate was doing...so next time you play, it'll be a bigger step.

basically, I just didn't throw away as many points as I normally do, and played all out. when he would slice it, instead of slicing it back i was overpowering it with a loop. pretty much had to play my best game, serves as well. I managed to get a few points on extremely short serves after a few long ones that had him a step away from the table. It was a pretty good match, now i just have to do it again :)

But ah, doesn't it feel great to play that well? After such a match, I usually gain some small insight on where to improve. Is it the same case as yours?

It seems like your serving skills are going to improve some more -- to gain more free points.

It most certainly does... usually whenever I put alot of time into something to get better at it, I'll do something that is way above my skill level without thinking about it, and that always lets me know that I can improve to the point where all the shots are as good as the one that stood out.

i really need to get better at not getting caught in a bad position. Sometimes the ball will be coming straight for my racket and i won't decide between fh or bh and wind up doing some sort of inverted flip deal that we all have done at some point in time :) probably just need to be quicker in the feet.

also, when i give long serves i tend to watch it go over, watch them hit it back, and THEN move. I want to step back as soon as i serve it but i forget sometimes :) Short serves i stay close though
