I sent them a e-mail concerning frictionless longpips and this is what I got back.

Dear Joe,

Thank you for your email.
Sorry for this late reply. We have been running a sales stand on the occasion of the European Veterans Championship in Rotterdam/The Netherlands last week and we have found a tremendous workload upon our return.

The ITTF has indeed banned all frictionless long pimpled rubbers as from 01 July 2008.
This includes all our current long pimpled rubbers (including 'Monster') as well as all frictionless long pimples from other manufacturers (TSP Bamboo/Cactus/Combi; all frictionless long pimples from Hallmark including Friction Special;Joola Fakir/Razor; Tibhar Grass Devil etc..).
We have already started working on new long pimpled rubbers one year ago. These will have friction yet be very effective.
These new rubbers will be ready by June 2008 approximately.

There are no changes regarding the coming season (2007-2008), we recommend that you keep your current equipment until June 2008.

Best regards

Carsten

Hmm, would Globe 979 be banned? I think they're frictioned, due to the rough surface. Also, 955 is FL, right?

It would be nice to know about "on the fence" lp's like Saviga V. I am going to try a bunch of friction pips with sponge, but does this one have enough friction for the ITTF? Publish the damn list, A-holes!

Yes that's right (was posted in another thread). At least some of the manufacturers are coming clean :D

It sure would be nice to know what is and isn't legal, of what's been tested so far. Especially as new equipment comes out. I'm guessing that my Dawei 388D-1 will be legal, but now that they've come out with the D-1 Quattro and Saviga V I'm tempted to try those, but not until I know for sure exactly what's going to be legal. For now, I just stick with the regular D-1 as a result and hope for the best.
