I have a Joola Buddy Robot myself and am so impressed by it's quality - especially at such a low price - that I felt others needed to know. I bought mine for £145 which included 150 training balls (and box), a collection net, and a net to pick up the stray balls. This cheap price was, admittedly, all my coach's doing!

It's really easy to use with just three dials: one for speed, one for spin - that both range from 1-5 - and a dial for the frequency of the balls fired at you. The robot can be set up for backspin, topspin and heavy topspin. The actual machine itself sits ON the opposite side of the table allowing the player to create almost any angle in terms of the balls coming at them. There is a lead that connects the robot to the socket (two pin adaptor plug needed) and another connecting the robot to the controls, meaning that it can be conveniently placed on the player's side of the table, allowing the player to adjust spin, speed etc. mid-rally.

It's also small and light - weighing just 1kg - as well as being very reliable.

The frequency ranges from 12 balls per minute to something like 70 balls per minute! (A bit of a challenge!) The collection net is also fantastic... almost all the balls that go on the table are collected, and can be put into a container using the velcro flap in the bottom of the collection net. The only downside to the robot is having to collect the balls that miss the table entirely as the pick up net breaks very easily.

This is the link so that you can check it out. I am aware however, that Joola have introduced a second generation of the Buddy which oscillates!

Feel free to pick me up on anything I've missed, but I hope this has given you a good idea of what the Joola Buddy Robot can do.

Overall, it's a great product & has helped me improve my game enormously, and can hopefully do the same for you! 8)

I would recommend it to anyone of any ability.

i heard that the backspin wasn`t high enough on the i-pong,how is it on the buddy?they ought to make one with an lp mode were the underspin increases with each ball delivered, this would enable lp hating loopers to practise and think about what they are doing instead of :swear: funny rubber!lol

Like you said with the iPong, the backspin wasn't quite choppy enough for a looper to practice against - mainly because the backspin dial couldn't be turned fully without going off the end off the the end of table. Your point is very good about the increasing backspin.

just get a small table to back the robot off the table and crank the backspin all the way up.

You can also bounce a topspin off a piece of wood, angled to give you the shot you want.

Thanks! I'll see if I can try that out sometime... for the moment though I'm sticking to my robot! :) :)
