Hi I have just purchased a robot (super master) after many years of no one to hit up with.
Now the old blade I have has had the sriver perish (other side the tackiness still alright and sticky) so I bought a sports shop bat (donic) which is ok but not in the same class as the tackiness.
My question is by going back to a begginer style bat will this harm my technique when I do go back to the odd competition with a higher class blade/ rubber?

It depends really...

If it was me and I was training to return to competition then I would train with the bat I intended to play with as blades and rubbers all have their own feel to them. Going to a shop bat that will only last a few months max is probably not the way to go if you are serious about competitive play.

That said you can still start over with that bat and the robot as its better then not hitting the ball. I'd jest be getting a set up that I would train and play with personally so I was much more familiar with how it played.

I agree with apophis. Better to train with something than nothing, but even better to train with the same setup you will use in competition as you know the feel and the bat's reaction to different spins and speeds better.
