I've only found Euro prices but they normally mean the same amount but in pounds.

Basic: 899 €
Advance: 1199 €
Professional: 1499 €

So I'd say £1499 for the Pro. I'll probably start with the Advance and see how I get on. If I want the Pro I can just upgrade the panel at a later date.

No worries Andy although I'm pretty sure the only place selling these in the UK will be Teessport as they are the only authorised Butterfly reseller in the UK.

I've contacted them and have asked for prices so I'll post back here when I have anything.

For people who haven't seen the link. I've posted some details below of the three new robots. I say "three robots" but actually there is one robot but three different panel options. The panels can be swapped / changed and upgraded. So if you start with a BASIC, you can buy the PROFESSIONAL panel from Butterfly and then you'll have all of that functionality. The actual robot is the same between the three.

I personally like the look of the Advance as it seems to have a nice spread of functions without being too complicated!

Amicus BASIC
Excellent for high-intensity training of stroke technique and footwork:

- 6 balls per exercise with different position
- Spin, Speed and Trajectory adjustable
- Random function - balls with a natural scattering

Image

Amicus ADVANCE
Ideal partner for those who want to train complex play sequences. The ADVANCE supplements the advantages of the Basic adds the following features:

- For each ball an exercise individually adjustable: spin + speed + trajectory + placement
- Complete ball consequences incl. service
- Up to 10 saved exercises
- New: AFC function - "Automatic Frequency Control" for automatic adjustment of the time intervals between balls with different speed and spin
- "Sample" function - to play balls individually and customize their settings

Image

Amicus PROFESSIONAL
For the Amicus PROFESSIONAL you don´t have to be a real professional – just requiring the highest possible standards is enough. The PROFESSIONAL has all the features of the models Basic and Advance at the highest level and adds:

- 8 Balls per exercise
- 99 exercises saved
- Remote control (on / off and speed variation)
- IFC (individual Frequency Control) - for individual needs
- Cycle function - automatic game breaks
- Mega Spin Mode - for extreme spin balls

Image

It does look as if they've thought about this design of this robot as well because now it comes with a fast opening net that can just be unfolded in seconds. Combine that with the functions on offer and I'm really glad that I decided to wait for this to be released. I just need to save some money now to buy one :)

I'm a little surprised they don't have an LCD display on there, so that you can see the current settings. etc. Still it sounds like the rest of the robot is well thought through

Any idea if they can do a fast no-spin ball?

Yes it has a no spin ball option and it has different speed settings so I don't see why it couldn't do a fast no spin ball.

What I like about this robot is that each ball can be individually programmed for speed, spin, trajectory and placement, so you could for example program the six balls to do:

Ball 1 - Serve short no spin
Ball 2 - Topspin loop long to the backhand
Ball 3 - Lobbed ball to the middle of the table
Ball 4 - Chop to middle of the table landing the ball mid distance
Ball 5 - Forehand drive to your forehand
Ball 6 - No spin drive to your backhand

All in one program. Obviously I've mixed it around but you could practice more set routines if you wished. I'd probably play things like a chopped ball to my backhand that I'd return with my pips and in normal play that would normally give me a pop up ball if they misread the spin. So the next robot ball could be a slow topspin return to the same place whee you could practice putting the ball away.

Anybody bought this one? Would you recommend this to a person who is purchasing a TT robot for the first time and is really serious about improving his game

Not yet. I'm just waiting on prices from the main UK Butterfly supplier and for them to put it on their website.

However I do think that this robot will offer a very decent training programme, more realistic balls and sequences that allow you to develop as a player.

I know that there have been league matches in the past where I've struggled with a certain type of serve or a serve and then third ball attack. With this robot, I should be able to replicate these situations quite accurately which will enable me to practice against them repetitively.

Hi

Myself, I've been looking into buying a robot for months now. I've read reviews and manuals, played and tested several but currently I'm really thinking about the robopog 2050 untill I saw the promotion clip. So what now...

I first wanted the smartpong (changing spin within the same exercise) but it's more than twice the price of the robopong and still remains a 1 wheel robot. 1499€ comparing to 695€ for the robopong 2050 while the robopong can be programmed connected to your computer and has 64 built in drills.
see for an overview of the drills. I still had doubts but the price difference was just too high.

I only recently found there is a new amicus and I watched the youtube clip 20 times; it looks amazing. Myself, I would settle for the advance (1200€) because the extra 300€ for the pro version is (for me) not worth the extra options (which will rarely be used by most people).

Still I wonder if the 500€ difference with the robopong is justified even though you can change the spin within 1 excercise, it can produce no wpin balls....

my doubts to pay more for an amicus advance (and please correct/convince me if I'm wrong):
- seems to me that it is very difficult during an exercise to see where the next ball is going to be shot because the head is not moving like other robots. Also you can't see which spin it is going to be. During actual playing in matches you also need to keep an eye on your opponent's movement to know where the next ball is coming and with which spin. That is a big advantage of the smartpong principle.
- price is still high comparing to the robopong
- I read before that amicus robots have issues with sidespin because the balls are not directly thrown out. They first hit another part inside the head
- can't be connected to the computer

I've just found the thread on the new amicus while researching the new ball. Any new about this machine. This thread is six months old. I regularly scope the US Butterfly distributor and the are still selling the Smart Pong.
