Hi,

Our son just started playing table tennis and we wanted to buy a simple robot so he can practice at home regularly. Which of the following robots would be recommended that can be good for first 1-2 years of practice or if there is any other that can be helpful.

Also we found good reviews on super master t288-5 but do can't find any retailer in US

A problem the newgy has it only has one wheel, so faster balls will always be spinnier. The super master is a two wheel version of the newgy but not as good build quality. I would pick the b3 of those, it's ok quality but cheap price and has all the basic features.

Thanks, Would y&t v-981 would be better option than B3? Or there is other better basic model from other company.

The V981 is much heavier pro build quality like y&t high end models, but has less features (similar features to newgy 540). I think the b3 is pretty good for beginners.

I'm looking at getting a robot, probably either the Newgy 1040 or the Y & T B3. I'm not too worried about one wheel with the Newgy as you can set it to bounce twice thereby reducing the spin on backspin. Also I think parts would be easier to get in case of a breakdown or future changes. It has various oscillation options and head adjustments. I'm familiar with the 2040 and am comfortable with most of it. The thing that I'm not sold on of the 1040 is the head height. The head seems to be fairly high and if the robot is sitting on the table if trying to practice 3rd or 5th ball attack I'm not sure its going to be that realistic. I could always put in on an adjustable chair or stool away from the table but I was looking at using a catch net which would be impossible if the robot was off the table.

The B3 seems to sit lower and perhaps a bit more realistic however I read reviews saying that the adjustments are tricky and I'm not sure how good the oscillation is or if the head can be angled downward to simulate serves. I'm also not sure how robust this model is, though I've heard some others are really good but this one is the entry level. Newgy is generally good quality though ball feeding can be an issue at times.

Wondering if anyone has compared the two?

Was recently looking for a starter robot and trying to decide between the Newgy 540 and the Y&T B3. I was leaning towards the B3 mainly because it's really the only one I was familiar with. A family member has had one for years and never had a problem with it.

Then I came across the Tibhar Robo Pro Junior which is the same design as the B3 with the addition of a digital display panel. Unfortunately no Aussie distributor that I could find, but I got it delivered from Bribar TT UK for only a few dollars more than I could get a B3 locally.

So far pretty happy with it.

Interesting topic as I've shot a Tibhar Robo Pro Junior just recently at sub $200 including balls which is now in transition.

I figured out that a simple but reliable ball-machine would be sufficient as I am still able to train about 3 days a week with human players and I still have options for systematic training. So all these highly sophisticated robots with programs, all those bells and whistles, are ruled out; but hey, their price-tag is about as exclusive as their featureset.
The robot will be used to help me improve my offensive capabilities esp. on the backhand and to speed up switching between forehand and backhand strokes. It also will be used for my kids and, at a third stage, it will be used for club-members and at the regular youth-training - usually within multiball-sessions.
So, I dug into the robots available and I quickly ruled out the iPongs even if their feature set is sufficient. I found the Newgy 1050 quite inspiring but I've also found a kickstarter-project called trainerbot which offers similar and then some features compared to the 1050, at a lower price.
Then there's the Newgy 540 which would be sufficient for the desired purpose but it seems to be more picky with the balls used compared to the Tibhar Robo-Pro Junior. The Tibhar is lacking sidespin but it nevertheless seemed to be the better choice.
Oh, and there are some interesting robots on Aliexpress as well but everything I order there with a price above $25 will give me trouble.

So, I went for the cheap Tibhar and I finally may end up having paid zilch as the club is eager to take the ownwership for it.

$200 is a bargain, zilch even better!
Btw, dunno what country you're in but if outside Europe you'll probably need an adaptor plug.
