While researching Table Tennis robots, I cam across one on Amazon UK called a SOGAR Intelligent Automatic Table Tennis/Ping-Pong Robot Serving Machine,3 Colors. It has a recycling net catcher, with a rotating head for spin. But the description is a little skimpy.

Does anyone know this model, or, is it, as I assume, a variation on something sold under another name? I couldn't find anything looking exactly the same.

It would ship from China, so would add quite a bit to the cost (£392 as is) for UK import duty and VAT, but otherwise, who knows? Might be good.

I haven't heard of it. I also bought a couple of even cheaper robots from China. The trade-off for the cheap price is that you have to forgo local technical, spares and warranty support. Also, I can't read Chinese (didn't take to Chinese classes as a kid), so I've no idea what the manuals say; and in the case of one of the robots, I've only been able to work out what 5 of the 6 little control dials do…

Also goes by Hui Pang RoboPong.

http://www.greenpaddle.com/products/hui ... a-robopong

More info, but looks a different machine here. http://www.tt-robot.com/huipong-jt01-ro ... 6nrq74ir17 Claims to do no-spin balls.

Also selling what looks like an iPong/Joola under the same name.

I can...

Amazon. That means it's easy to get, no need to deal with the Chinese company.

I wonder if spin and speed are independent (an issue with some robots, particularly Robo-Pong).

Maybe not that model, but the JT-01 in the other link, sells for $500 direct, and claims to deliver a no-spin shot, and looks like a two wheel machine. But the JT-A from Amazon doesn't mention that at all, and the spin features look like they are dependent on rotating the head, like a Newgy. Manufacturer known as either Hui Pang or Hui Pong, depending on the site. They look nicely made.

Huipang used to sell those I-Pong clones - they had square funnels instead of round ones.

Are you sure the Amazon robots aren't two wheelers? The head looks like it's got two motors and two wheels.

I'm not sure, because they don't mention it at all. On the other hand, they specifically say two wheel on the other model, which makes me think it's an upgraded version, and that the Amazon one is only one wheel. If the 01 was available to see here in the UK, I'd be very interested. I wonder if they'd send me one as a prospective distributor. ;)

It looks a lot like some of their other models are similar, but not identical, to Y&T/Practice Partner/Tibhar models. I'm not bothered by brand names as it stands. I've just ordered the B3 in a Tibhar livery, which is about £60 cheaper than any other version I've seen. Cheap enough to use for a while and then pass on if I can see the need for something better.

It is possible, of course, that the head CAN take two motors/wheels but they've only put one in the lower end models.

Just from the product description:

1. 2 wheels.
2. Two wheel head rotates if you need some degree of sidespin.
3. Has ball return (quite a few robots do not).
4. Not programmable (unlike the Amicus and a couple others I know about).
5. Side-to-side oscillation range can be controlled (unlike a lot of other robots).
6. Clamps to the table (like the Newgy).
7. Catch net folds and is attached to the unit (again, like the Newgy).
8. Vendor is in China, for something this big shipping might be substantial.
9. USD500, not including shipping.

For what it's worth, a lot of robots look "plasticky", including the Newgies. Not surprising since a lot of the major parts are made of plastic.. Looks like Huipang's still making the square hopper i-Pong clones.

Iskandar

Not only this but there is
HP-07 for ~200 shipped which does oscillation and all kinds of spin
P6 S6[2017] for ~250$+ shipping which is similar to Y&T A9

The P6 also looks very good on specs ; dont know about durability.
I see no reviews of these anywhere. they seem good for budget performance best bang for buck; the wheels have wear and tear so need to be serviceable.

Double Snake?

http://tt-robot.com/t-t-robots-double-s ... 67_71.html

Actually, the Double Snake FQJ-5 looks pretty impressive (if it all works). It should, at that price.

Check out the remote..

Image

It's got so many functions it needs.. what's this, a DB25 parallel port connector?? Haven't seen these in a long time.

I used to sell the same type as the sogar robots, mine were called tuttle
the power is same for NZ (just a adaptor) and has recycle system , two rollers , top spin bottom spin and side spin
some spare parts , like the inside pen springs which align the balls into the elevator
these machine must be close to the power source and don't run them too long, 30 mins then give them a rest
mostly plastic so tape and glue needed for repairs
some were really good others had something wrong so I had to get one to fix others
