Post subject:  Newgy 1040 - jamming

Hi all.

Good chance this topic may already be posted but i have not been able to view anything as yet.

Recently picked myself up the newgy 1040. I am having some serious issues getting some playing time. I am not sure if i am using the wtong balls or wrong brand but the robot continuously jams. Forcing me to push through a few balls. Problem is im barely getting time to hit before it jams.

Am i unlucky in getting possibly a poor model?

Is there a particular 40mm branded ball i should be using?

Any obvious trouble shooting would be great

Cheers

I suspect it's the balls you're using, as the Newgy robots are usually quite tolerant to slightly bigger balls. If you're using an old 1040, make sure the 40mm switch (on the head) is completely pushed over.

Which balls are you using?

Hi Dark Night,

Thanks a lot for your response. Apologies for my delay.

I have a combination of Newgy balls and general practice balls. Both of which are 40mm

Been looking high and low at my 1040 and for the life of me cant see any 40mm switch. Possibly mine does not have any.

Could it be the balls i am using.

I cant begin to tell you the frustrations it causes

Regards

Only the (very) old models had a switch, if it was bought new in the last few years it won't have it. If it was bought in the last year or so, it would have been modified for the new 40+ balls.
It sounds like you're just using old celluloid balls though, which should not jam on a 1040, unless they're badly out of shape.

I only use 3 star balls and don't have any jams. Check outmy post as my video highlights that.

I had a problem with mine and the new 40+ plastic balls. I just used older celluloid balls until I got a butterfly.

I've got a shopping bag full of celluloid balls that I know work with a newgy if you want to pick them up :D

One common problem with both the 1040 and 1050, is that the robot is not seated down properly into the bucket frame. This puts the plastic finger that grabs the ball into a position where the ball get trapped between the finger and the bottom of the bucket. So check carefully that the robot assembly is all the way down.
