Looks like Newgy is about to release a new model robot, with a 2 wheel head, electronically controlled rotating head, and a bluetooth APP controller. There's a few more details on the Newgy website here: https://www.newgy.com/p-284-robo-pong-3050.aspx Available here: https://www.megaspin.net/store/redirect ... ong-3050xl It's not clear if the unit includes a separate remote, or if it's only controllable via smartphone (bluetooth) or PC (USB). |

Could be a contender, especially if they keep the price reasonable. Looks like the app is the only controller, as you say. |

You wonder how easy it would be to prank someone by taking over the robot from across the room... Iskandar |

I believe this robots has been available in the USA since early this year. Does anyone have one yet? I'm wondering how long does it take to change from topspin to backspin? I can see that it can do this either by rotating the head, or by changing the relative speed of the wheels. I expect the rotating of the head will be quicker, but would like to know which method it uses, and how fast it can do this. None of the videos I've seen seem to illustrate this. |

I just got the Newgy 3050XL last week. The setup was easy and I was up and going soon. However, faced some issues. Would be great if other owners can comment. 1. Just right out of the box, when I turn it on, it produces a high frequency noise. Is this normal? 2. On the third day, when I tried to connect it through the app, it got stuck in the "Calibrating..." screen. It was clear that the phone bluetooth was able to connect to the device. But it was not proceeding any further. After trying for half an hour it finally worked. 3. On the third day, it is able to connect, but the ball doesn't shoot out. It falls down with very low force as if the motor that is supposed to push it is not working at all. Has anyone faced this issue? Did I get a bad unit? |

Welcome to the forum kriskk008! Sounds like a fault to me, but it's best to ask Newgy. They are usually very responsive and helpful. It would be good if you can post their answer, here, for the benefit of other members that might have a similar experience. |

I'll a demo one tomorrow and see if it is really loud. It probably is supposed to be. These small motors are the same design used on drones. |

1700 bucks and that's marked down on Newgy's site. Ouch. But I guess that's TT robots for ya. At least it's a 2 headed robot. That's a step in the right direction. |

I can understand it being loud when it is functioning (spitting out balls). The noise that I am talking about happens when I plug in the power and the robot is doing nothing. |

It is not too loud. But more like a humming sound. Is the 3050XL completely silent when it is switched on, but not spitting out balls? |

It stopped spitting out the balls. I contacted Newgy and since I am within the 30 day period, they agreed to give me a replacement. Let me see how the replacement works out. |

what is the end of your story? i bought 3050 few days ago and i have same problems high frequency sound and balls stopped to fly out i fixed the problem with the balls. it was easy. one will was unscrewed, but sound still there and it comes from 3 small motors. and i do not see any way how to rid of this sound and one more minor issue all may balls became dotted with black marks. i suspect wheel marks the balls. is it normal? thanks Vladimir |
