Does that mean that my pre-game preparation ( warm up ) is not enough?

Yes and no. It's caused by microtears in the muscle from repeated isometric exercises. It can be reduced by training and increasing the intensity of your workout, therefor increasing the strength in that muscle group. Well that's my understanding of it, basic as it is.

If you work on looping when training and engage those muscles you will reduce the DOMS over time as the muscles build up that strength and are less succeptable to the microtears.

Warmup and cool downs reduce the soreness as a cold muscle is more likely to suffer damage. The only way to properly train for it is to do looping technique. Sets of slow loops using the proper technique then full intensity using proper technique. Or so I've been told.

make sure your mattress is supportive enough, since I got a better one backpain is less and manageable, also posture when sitting(no slouching),all adds up to a weakened lower back if these points are not met

Thanks apophis. I now fully understand why I am experiencing this. It is also related to my equipment. 3 weeks ago, I replaced my Tenergy 05 with my stock razka 7 and have to improve on my looping ability to generate more power. My swing has to be different and take more motion to execute. Hopefully, my muscle can adopt.

I had severe lower back pain after playing matches where I was smashing/looping like a madman. I couldn't move for a few days and sleep was almost nonexistent. Then I saw a chiropractor for a few weeks and was able to get moving again. After a table tennis tournament in March, it happened again. So, I decided to go back to what I do best - flat hitting. I went to one setup with short pips on both sides, and another with short pips/long pips. I haven't had back problems reoccur since I stopped trying to loop and torque my back doing so.

I actually really enjoy my new style and it is kind of a refreshing change get to learn it all over again. Hopefully you figure out what to do to prevent it in the future. I feel your pain - quite literally. ;)

Good for you crazy goat.

I was able to play through my "injury". Had a hard time moving after playing but after a couple of stretching, the soreness was lessened. Anyway, the feeling was like having stiff neck. Sudden movement will result to pain. I have to move slowly and slowly stretch my back. I think my back can survive
