So a couple weeks ago at a church-camp sorta thhing, I bent down on my knees and one went SNAP! really loud....it's hurt since. my doctor said take it easy and see if it gets better. Unfortunately, it still hurts, so I'll have to miss table tennis for a THIRD week in a row... ;(

Any tips for getting back on track once i get back to the table?

Urgh, that's reminiscent of my cartilage injury.

Most important thing, before you even get on the table, is to make sure you don't rush back too soon - it'll only prolong the period of your absence.

Generally with cartilage injuries it'll start to feel OK, then you'll go play TT and at one point you'll twist or stamp and it'll be agonisingly painful again. Make sure you recover properly, and make sure you keep in touch with your Doctor. If it is cartilage, you'll likely need an operation.

Doc hasn't taken even a scan? You should have an ultrasound to see what's going on in there. When I was just a bit older than you I did some cartilage damage and it made my knee weaker. A year later I was in the military and on training exercises in national park and knee twisted badly and ligament snapped. Don't know if it would have done if I'd not done the earlier damage or not, but I ended up losing most the cartilage from my knee. Back then reconstructions were "iffy" so they didn't do one. Whether they had or not, I'd still have the arthritis I now have in my knee and the trouble moving in TT. Get it treated as thoroughly now as you can.

When you are sure things are ok, then come back to TT. But while you are off, do some shadow play just to keep your body fluid in your stroke movement. Doing some light stuff like this and some light pushing off on your knees will probably help rebuild strength too, so long as there is no major damage going on...that's why you need to check it out properly.

And even if you do shadow play, it probably would be best to buy one of those neoprene (rubber/cloth) knee supports and always wear it when doing exercise. I wear these on both knees every time I play.

Sorry to hear that THE GAMEr :( :( :( I would also insist on a scan, to make sure there is no serious damage.

Well thanks guys. Yeah, I'll get it scanned soon...and no, at first my doctor thought it was just something minor, so I should just lay off and wear a brace (which I am), but she said if it still acted up in a couple weeks, they'd get it looked at closer.

Tore a muscle connecting to knee and it took a full year for it to be normal again in terms of strength and flexibility.

Another thing to consider helping you out is riding a bike.

I'll wait on bike-riding and exercises like that till I get it looked at.

I get it looked at by a specialist on Tuesday, so maybe we'll see what's up.

This is getting FRUSTRATING!!!!!! :headbang:

I want my table tennis back.....

Ok, it's been x-rayed....it's nothing they can see in the x-ray, so it's probably a cartilage/meniscus injury....the doctor said to go ahead and try doing stuff, but stop if it stars hurting.

So I guess I'm back for now, but I'll take a slow start back.
