it was my mistake as i was playing barefoot (my shoes got wet as it was a rainy day). so the player on other side gave me a lob and i jumped to smash as it was too high. As soon as i landed on ground i felt a sudden sharp pain in my lower back but continued playing for hour in pain..reached home took a pain killer(thinking that it's just a pain,it will go away).next day i felt little better so went to practice for 4 hours ..returned home and slept...as i woke up real nightmare started ..pain got worse..was not able to bend, walk properly or do anything. every movement which includes back started hurting badly. did some research on internet and found out that it may be disc herniation..got scared ..went straight up to doctor next day .. doctor did x-ray of my spine and thankfully no disc herniation. now it's been 3 weeks and pain is almost gone(90 % recovered).
i want to ask ..do this happened to any of you? and when should i start playing again?

Maybe stretch a bit before playing next time? Once I pulled a back muscle by just bending down to pick up a ball.

Don't start playing again until fully recover. Better more/over rest time than less/not enough.

Work on your core strength with planks, mountain climbers, wall sits, etc.

Once you are able to do core exercises, and without the pain, then perhaps the problem wont come back?

Before we barrage Him with unsolicited advice, better to ask,

How fit are You? :P

Start playing again one week after the pain is completely gone. And when you start, try an hour, then wait a day or two and see how you feel. If you feel fine then back to normal.

This should go without saying, but if you feel any pain at all when you start playing again, stop immediately.
