Interesting - first time I've heard of Pobedas. I hear there are people who collect and recondition Trabants... Supposedly part of the charm is the five (or was it seven?) moving parts...
I've heard eight, but that may be including the driver...

A couple of weeks on and nothing has changed. :headbang:

No Stats (except Rankings) or indeed any historical documents; the links to the Museum (which you have to ferret around at the bottom of the frontpage to find under 'History') lead nowhere except 'Failed to open page'; click on 'Events/World Championships' or 'World Cup' and only the most recent one is there.

The ITTF has been dumbing down its site steadily ever since it was first launched. I started contacting them about putting together a properly presented history of the sport and its flagship events (World Championships/World Cup/Olympics etc) back in 2003 and regularly ever since, as well as a thorough update of the statistics and records of those events. It's never happened despite promises, and despite Chuck Hoey's admirable (and unsupported) attempts in the Museum. A couple of years back the ITTF told Chuck that the Museum (which he had been painstakingly assembling for years) was moving to China.
I don't see any of that information returning online.

The ETTU site went the same way a couple of years ago - it's impossible to get any historical perspective on the sport.

A tip: for anyone looking for stuff in the Old site there's always the Wayback Machine.

I used to be able to watch the live matches and replays on my tv via Samsung smart DVD player. Now on the new site after a few seconds it zooms to about 1/8th of screen.

Now I have to watch replays on Ma long fan page channel on you tube.

I bought a Chromecast device about a year ago purely to watch online table tennis on my TV. One of the most useful gadgets I have now.

I've since found an app call 'Video & TV Cast' and it works great with the ITTF site. You download the app on both your Smart TV / Blu Ray and Tablet / Phone. You then load the video on your tablet and click the link and it casts to the TV. At first it didn't work but I sent an email and error report to the developer and 2 days later when I checked again it was working. Not sure if coincidence or they actioned my request, either way its working great.

I'm not sure if I needed to pay for the $8 pro version but I did anyway as its worth a lot more than that to me.
