the words "forlorn hope" spring to mind, for sure. the new polyball worries me a great deal - can't help but think it's just another avenue for adam to make money from, somehow. the whole thing smacks of being corrupt, but the fact that I/we can't do anything about it makes me feel a bit physically sick.

urgh, this is why I try to stay out of politics...

After his colleagues preferred a criminal over him, I can understand why he's disillusioned. Sad state our sport is in when our national associations ignore corruption and reelect the corrupt guy.

Status quo in most sports and especially in Governments.

Money..money.....and...money is what drives people, some to the wrong side of ethics and laws, unfortunately.

From my perspective (which is quite limited, honestly), this whole situation somewhat reminds me of the book "Animal Farm"

Another possibility could be theoretically that the ETTU was threatened by sponsors, in the first place by the TT manufacturers on Sharara's side.

I guess, European Championships and other tournaments (as well as World Championships) depend on sponsor's money.

TT manufacturers could never blackmail the ITTF, because the ITTF could easily ban their equipment, but the ETTU can not do that. Sharara and Shararians on the other hand theoretically could successfully blackmail any manufacturer, which mighty be unnecessary however, if, again theoretically, the most manufacturers benefit from certain rule changes. Representatives of national associations might get their cut too, in whatever form, so that they were reluctant to react properly to all that.

Those who lose financially are us, TT players worldwide.
