They probably won't be able to make any money out of it in China...

That's not good at all. I'm sure Chuck Hoey wouldn't want to live in China for starters. I must email him and find out what he thinks about this.Perhaps Shalala is trying to pension him off.

I should think the vast majority of the archives are written in English, since the ITTF was run by Englishmen up until the mid-80s. Yes, the ITTF HQ used to be in England, until about 15 years ago.

China (and Japan) already have TT Museums, and for those of us in Europe like myself who would want to consult the archives, China is a way different proposition from Switzerland.

It's not a move of the collection, but a dismantling. The collection will be scattered in several places in China.
And the collection has not been given to China, but sold, certainly for a good price. This is only an affair with money, and also Sharara's re-election.

Re-election? I prefer to call it re-installment, until I see the evidence that the votes were counted properly. An honest re-election seems highly improbable to me, given the circumstances and the information released prior to elections.

In the previous ITTF presidential election there were 153 votes cast but in the 2013 election there were 202 total votes. I seriously wonder if Adham or his company TMS bankrolled 50 extra banana republic TT associations to come in exchange for their vote?

Seriously? Do you have any information to support any of this? If true, this seems to be an abuse of the trust of the many people who donated items to be held in an ITTF museum, not to be sold off to some other entity.

I've heard from Chuck himself: I wrote to him and said I found the news disturbing; here is (some of) his reply :-

'... the ITTF HQs will downsize to a 2-person operation and move into the small house opposite the chateau, which will be rented. The collection, which I developed and nurtured for 40 years, will be transferred to China in parts, to multiple venues, plus one part for a traveling exhibition throughout China.

Disturbing to me as well - like a divorce. But I hope to continue my popular website and magazine, to keep the western tradition alive and well. It was a European game first, and this must not be allowed to get lost in China.'

Wow, I would find that hard to believe as well! Please give us some details if you can Francis?

I met Chuck Hoey in Paris during the World Championships, and he told me the same thing he wrote to zzzuppp, He didn't seem to feel very well as he announced this bas news to me...

Unconscionable! Adham is trying to erase the history of table tennis by splitting up and hiding the largest archive of our sport's glorious past. This puts all the focus on Adham's big ball hybrid.
