From October 1, 2016 (after the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games) coaches will have the opportunity to coach between points. Germany tested this at their league matches with positive results and proposed it to the board of directors.

I think that would be a very bad decision. :n:

Another interesting one:

"Proposed by the Brazil TTF

To modify Technical Leaflet / T1 Table:
4.8 ….The dynamic CoF between the playing surface and that of any ITTF approved
ball is specified between a minimum value of 0.6 and a maximum value of 1.0
should not be greater than 0.6.

Rationale:
Such new specification would increase the rally, the excitement of the fans and the interest of television
to broadcast table tennis events."

What does this mean? Increase/decrease in spin/speed?

What??? Does that mean all anti-spin rubbers would be banned?

They really have to quit this obsession with making it more interesting for spectators, as it would be highly detrimental to participants. Sure the participants must come first, especially since TT will always be more of a participation sport than a spectator sport.

I think it's about banning tables without enough friction. All the expensive tables at your club could soon be illegal.

if the incentive is to have longer ralleys, then it means that they want to ban certain tables with too much friction, as a table with more friction will allow the incoming spin to unfold/react more once it reaches the table..if they want longer ralleys, then they probably want to reduce the spin involved in the ralleys

The most comprehensive practical study on the subject of Table Outer Material and The Ball mutual dynamical interaction. Worthy reading, indeed.
