There are some minor updates to the T3 leaflet.

  • Ball suppliers can now apply to the ITTF for permission to put a "secondary stamp" onto the opposite side of the ball for "designated events". I wonder what this is about? Will balls used at major events have the event logo on now?
  • Some extra clarification on what the "Made in..." text should be on the ball when the manufacturing is taking place in more than one country. Interesting. I wonder if this is currently the case with any of the 40+ balls on the market now?

The temporary amendments for plastic balls are still in place, and still have an expiry date of 1st Jan 2016.

It is probably for manufacturers to put an extra event logo on the ball, so balls can become collectors' items. I imagine some people would pay more for balls with the, say, Brazil Olympics logo on them. If soccer ball manufacturers can do it, why can't DHS?

I wonder if the application to the ITTF to put an extra label on the ball will make the ITTF any money? :o

It certainly seems like the ITTF continues to focus on how to increase profit, rather than improve the game. :(
