Table marked out on the floor?
One foot net with 3 inch balls?
Why don't they like table tennis just like it is? :headbang:

This bit "a fantastic addition to the ITTF family." implies the regular game will not be changing. It's a new version of the game, presumably to run alongside TT as played now.

After all, you can sell a lot more new stuff with two wholly separate games than by changing one game.

I wonder if this is the net height rise thing that has been kicking about for a while now?

Not that I want to see or agree with yet another set of changes to the game.

I don't think so. The only thing passed about net height was to do a study of how high above the current net height rally shots (not serve or receive) are. I think I covered it in an ITTF Watch thread about 2016 ITTF AGM agenda.

How about demonstrate that by having a game between Thomas and Adham. Let see if they are indeed rejuvenated.

They're introducing a game where players have bats with frictionless pips on both sides :P

I wouldn't be surprised if it went something like this:

"We'd like to announce that we will be replacing the old, out-of-date plastic balls with new, more reliable, improved balls made from a celluloid-based material!"

Or, professional leagues playing with superballs instead of normal balls! That could be fun.

Or they could have adopted the TT game where the table has 5 or 6 segments each netted between each and there is a player in each segment. It was posted by the inventor here some years ago looking for people to promote it in there areas. Maybe he got some traction with it and someone in the ITTF decided they could further their cause with it.
