There was no subsidy for the 2nd item, but not when my son was involved at the state level (one below the national level). |

I think I've said this before. A country gets very good at a sport if people see a future in investing the time and money into developing talent. And this usually means in a sport that is BIG in that country. Why does the US dominate basketball? Or baseball? Because these sports are hugely popular with the public and there's big money to be made if you're talented. When there's big money involved, this attracts participants in huge numbers, and from among these participants come a small number of the super-talented. Table tennis is like this in China, basketball is like this in the US. In the US, you have basketball competition at all levels of schooling, you can get scholarships to play basketball in college, and the best players get recruited by the pro leagues and make millions of dollars a year. This is why all those kids play basketball in school, and that is where all the promising young men and women who play a the collegiate level come from. Same thing with soccer in certain European countries, though I think the pro clubs recruit high school age kids directly (they don't have a super-competitive collegiate soccer system). Iskandar |

I think the rest of the world needs to heavily invest in PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), top secret training facilities/barracks, and break out the Schildkrot 90, the ULTIMATE Weapon. |
