ITTF very proud that China did not win the Women's World Cup for the very first time. Kind of an empty claim considering no Chinese women actually played in the tourney.

A couple of days later Liu Shiwen also announces her withdrawal.

It is a little strange that the ITTF would mention "China did not win the Womens World cup for the very first time".
That isn't an accurate representation.

**This did create an opportunity for Mui Hirano's star to shine. She has been getting a lot of attention in the Japanese news; having been in Mima Ito's shadow.

Looking at Russia with it's superleague and their cooperations near the China-border it could be possible that they're going to surpass several European countries quite soon. But China will still be superior for the next decades, I can't see a change here.
