Longtime ITTF board member and current ITTF CEO suspended.

No reason given. This is hilarious considering Weikert claims he wants to set "the highest standards of governance, integrity and transparency." I guess quietly suspending the top ITTF executive on undisclosed charges is an example of Weikert's highest standard of transparency.

Good catch.

Notice we will know nothing until after the AGM. Also, the article implies that the main reason is that she can't get along with Weikert. Over what, I wonder? Also she will still be paid. Like you say, not very transparent.m

Interesting indeed, especially with the election coming up. Paid leave is more like a reward than a punishment.

I also wasn't aware of this "Qatari contender Khalil Al-Mohannadi has withdrawn in order to focus upon defending his position as vice-president." :o :o :o

Farago is an Adham gal. If Weikert and Adham are at war, then it's clear Weikert is purging Adham loyalists.

It's certainly very strange to suspend her just before the election... as if they're worried about what she's going to say during the election meetings, which I assume she'll now be precluded from attending. Suspension without a reason is weird....usually an 'official' reason is given, even if it's so general we won't know what it means.

I interpret it the same way as MNNB. The end of Adham influence. Also the end of agreement with TMS suggests the same thing. Or at least trying to convince people of that.

Therefore, not a bad thing taken by itself. Well, maybe, if you are optimistic.

I disagree with Haggis that this is anything you would expect public comment on, especially since she is not yet fired (still on payroll). And even if she was already completely fired, it is a private personnel matter, or at least that is how they would see it. And remember, international sports federations answer to no-one. The do whatever they want. How often do private companies send out a press release outlining the reasons why they fired someone? Even non-profit organizations?

Elaborating on the pure speculation from me. This is a message from Weikert to people who get to vote at the AGM who might be wanting a big change (i.e. supporting Saive) that the Sharara era is now completely over. That may have been enough to get the third guy to drop out of the race.
