The International Table Tennis Federation claims it has become the first governing body to achieve a full membership of 226 National Associations, after Guinea-Bissau was accepted.

ITTF President Thomas Weikert went to Guinea-Bissau personally to buy another vote for the upcoming ITTF election. Guinea-Bissau has rampant corruption with five different prime ministers in a nine-month stretch last year, so it's an ideal country for the ITTF to partner with.

The ITTF believes it has now spread its tentacles into all possible countries and territories across the globe.

Guinea-Bissau, together with Cape Verde, Eritrea and The Bahamas, will receive an ITTF payoff of $25,000 (£19,400/€23,000) in technical support and $5,000 (£3,800/€4,600) in equipment support at the ITTF Annual General Meeting on May 31 in Düsseldorf in Germany during the 2017 World Championships.

In comparison, the United Nations only has a paltry 193 member states.

And that country gets just as many votes at the AGM as China.

Yup, table tennis is a pretty penny-ante sport. A "pawltry" $25,000 for a national organization? The cheapskates...

That's because England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, not to mention Macau and Hong Kong, or even Taiwan or Palestine are members.
