Who's the bright spark that removed the link from the ITTF website to the old ITTF website?

All the regulations, and well as the LARC and approved balls, tables, etc are only on the old ITTF website, so I think a link to the old website (as there used to be) is quite appropriate, so that umpires, referees & players can actually look up regulation and whether or not equipment is approved.

Besides this, I don't seem to be able to even get to some of the pages on the old website... some IT issues perhaps after they fired the TMS staff?

I was trying to look at the LARC too. Looks like TMS/Adham took swift vengeance in response to the latest hostilities from Weikert et all. lol

This ITTF website situation has been a mess for a while now. Really minor league considering they're supposed to be the world's largest international sports association.

I think the rankings lists are also on the old site. Which is approximately the only thing I ever go to the ITTF website to look at, to see how my favorite players are doing.

I hate the fact that I can no longer get to the ITTF museum (and I don't mean the one in Shanghai).
Also, I hate that "TTX" thing.

Ranking lists are now available and easy to find (if you can wait for the page to load). See Ranking/stats in the tiny top menu. History is only available as Excel files.

It seems that ITTF went from a responsive web solution with turn-of-the-century page design, to a solution with a modern design, sluggish performance and the functionality and content similar to what you'd find in the good old dialup BBS services of the early eighties.

IOW, we used to have a Pobeda. Now we have a Trabant modded to appear as a Bugatti ...

I used to be able to watch the live matches and replays on my tv via Samsung smart DVD player. Now on the new site after a few seconds it zooms to about 1/8th of screen.

Now I have to watch replays on Ma long fan page channel on you tube.

I used to be part of a business where we'd been promised a new website by our SAP accounting software provider (let's not get into SAP…). It got to the stage where the wait time had closed to less than a month. In anticipation of this, my colleague deleted our old website. I wasn't happy about this, but there was nothing I could do, as there was no backup and no prospect of restoration.

Anyway, we had no functioning website for the best part of a year.

I bought a Chromecast device about a year ago purely to watch online table tennis on my TV. One of the most useful gadgets I have now.

Looks interesting. I've heard of it but never really looked into. Does the program still need to be playing on the tablet / computer once its on the TV?. Can I start the cast then play something else on my tablet?

You can cast something from your computer to your TV in one browser window, and do other things on another window. I don't know if it works in any browsers other than Chrome.

The old site is completely down now, but it looks like they're slowly moving stuff to the new site. Approval list like the LARC is now under a new heading called equipment.

I feel much angry about how ITTF treats all the visitors. It is some atrocity, indeed.
Ittf locked all the most important documents inside the old website, no humanism for incomers..

As far as browsers (generic) go, Chrome is the most useable, because, well, Google is behind both. To watch ITTV, you probably have to use Chrome. And yes, you can do other things on the computer at the same time, but the ITTV tab will still need to be running in the background.

Youtube and maybe Facebook have their own interaction with Chromecast, and you don't need the browser tab on to keep watching. In theory, the internet signal is directed to the TV, and does not go via the PC/tablet/phone. There are other apps with Chromecast enabled features as well.

I believe that the Amazon Firestick has similar functions, but I have not actually investigated it.

Yes. Looks like they are getting there, step by step. As you say, the LARC is now in place where I looked for it a week ago. At that time there was only a dead link to the old site.

So, we're back to Pobeda level again, or so.

I must say that some of the styled and tuned up Pobedas look really nice. Wouldn't mind owning one myself (except perhaps for the gas mileage...)

Interesting - first time I've heard of Pobedas. I hear there are people who collect and recondition Trabants... Supposedly part of the charm is the five (or was it seven?) moving parts...
