A interesting discussion on 2 new proposals that the ITTF will be voting on soon. Written a Kagin, who was part of the ITTF Equipment Committee for 10 years. He's also a member here, but I've not seen him for many years.

I knew Kagin a bit, really smart guy, dedicated to the sport, we need more people like him involved in the sport. Nice to see a little resurgence in activity from him.

Yes he's clearly a very knowledgeable and experienced person with great insight into the ITTF. He's been a member here since 2008, but has not participated since 2011, after some rather heated discussions to which (I assume) he didn't take too kindly and stopped posting unfortunately.

What he discussed in this blog makes a lot of sense to me!

Talk about timing for this topic...team USA missed out on advancing when in their last team match Jishan Liang was DQ'd after he had already won his match, supposedly due to a rubber thickness issue. If his match had stood, the worst that could have happened is that USA could have still lost 3-2 but with tie breakers would have advanced to the knockout rounds. Instead, they lost 3-1 and did not advance in a 3-way tie. What a ripoff.

Maybe he overdid it? All the racket control does it measure the rubber thickness so if you overboost it's too thick. They can't detect the actual booster.
