Right then, who's for a game of on-line pong? I suggested the following at :thread: http://oneofakindtrading.com.au/forum/v ... highlight=

You know how you can play chess by email/mail or whatever (KRp to KR4 sort of thing), I reckon we can sort all this posturing out with VIRTUAL TABLE TENNIS.
Here's how it works. Instead of two of us actually playing at a TT table, rather we do it this way.
My serve - reverse pendulum TS long cross court from my BH court (I'm a right hander). (Oops - silver's left handed, look out, didn't get enough spin on that ball ...)
Now opponent has to reply with his shot -
We keep going until someone misses and POINT AWARDED.
Repeat process until game won.

So, anyone game enough to challenge????

(note to ed: please relocate this thread if in wrong spot).

I recognize the topspin and BH drive the ball down your FH line - good chance to be a winner, good pressure if not. (I am glad you hit that to my BH - I am cat like quick there and slow like a zombie and clumbsy as all let out with that serve on my FH side)

Hang on, call a let. That was my serve to silver.

Here we go:

Serve: pendulum BS to mid table mid court to see how you play it.

Sorry Andre... and Silver. Hope this one isn't to Silver as well. If not, tell me to GTFO...

I take it you mean you serve FH pendulum short landing in the middle of the table. I TRY to read the side spin (and bottom spin), angle my blade opposite, catch to ball just below the high point of the bounce, and give a low short push with almost nil pace, giving back a deal of the sidespin. I hope you don't have a great flick and push it back long to me as I expect it to come back to my BH.

3rd. BH LP push/block (i.e. slight uplift to block) - long to your right hip (side spin reversal + small TS? - I think you had some BS on your push)

Since I made up my mind that I am looking for a long ball to my BH, I was already cheating by moving slightly to my FH corner to cover most of the table with the BH. My return should have had only light backspin and what ever sidespin you gave me if I got the racket side angle half-ass correct. You use a lifting stroke right ot where my right hip was (I was on the BH side of the table and started to shift to my FH corner. I am looking to BH loopdrive or loopkill anything within my BH radius. Your return is within the edge of my BH zone. I already moved slightly back to await something long to the BH zone. I see the return and move a little back and to my right while I am crouching down and let loose a fast powerloop deep down your BH corner. (Isn't it wierd to see a guy setup a BH step around for a big hit?)

Thinks to self: Damn, where did that come from? This guy's a bit better than I'd heard (from Speedplay  ). Glad I've done all that chopping practice against fast balls down my BH side

5th. BH chop low over net, lands mid table your FH side.

If I'm not still in shock that you returned it... I use wrist snap on BH to smash the return to your wide FH... If I land it and you return it, I get to buy the Fosters.

Thinks to self: wide to the BH, and now wide to the FH
7th. Stre.....tch. Gets bat on ball and it flies off to the side ('caught in slips' to use a cricket expression).
Score: 0-1.
Thinks to self: Long way to go yet ...

Thinks to self: Hmmm, push him long on BH with a bit of kick ...

Serve: Pendulum deep cross court to your BH, looks like its probably BS, but seems to jump up a bit just as you go to hit it
(You of course miss-hit it and it goes long - I hope :!: )

Knowing me and my BH aggressive nature, I would seek to loop this serve. I would look to creat a really spinny slow loop, or a medium loop if I mess up, aimed right at your body deep. Whether I land it correctly or where I wish to place it depeds on if I correctly read the spin and depth. I will get in position good and low, probem is if my brain figured out the spot where the ball goes correctly. I am way more consistant on the BH side. I give it 70 percent chance I hit it deep at you (you were in your BH corner, I suppose) for a super spinny slow loop. This sets me up to crush it away from you if you block and land it. Since you might not have played a joker w/ a BH dominant loop, the spin might surprise you and there is a chance you block long. I give my chances 70% that loop lands, 30% that loop attempt doesn't land. 40-50% chance your return pops up long.

We have got lots of jokers in our club who attack from their BH :D

I see you shaping up for loop and take half a step back from table. You get a bit crossed up in your shot because of the TS on the serve, but still land your shot although its a bit short

3rd. I step in and BH drive long to your FH side using the 388D-1 pips.

Gets you thinking - now was that a drive or a block? How much spin reversal? :?

Depending on your stroke, you could give me anything from a lot of backspin to some topspin. If the stroke looked like a hit or punch with the blade somewhat closed, I would be looking for light topspin, confirming it with the flight of the ball. My pivot puts me into position to be ready to punish this shot I am expecting back. I look to loopkill this baby away from you on your wide FH. Problem is, I am barely 50 percent hitting this shot which is well over 90% to others - I am still out of coordination on the easy FH. If it lands, you are through. If it doesn't, you snicker like Mutley from Wackey Racers... You make the call. I only put away half of these free points on my FH. Most points in my matches last 3-5 hits at best.

After tonight's bad time of hitting in Texas, I was sure on the bad side of 50!

My first serve is a BH modified pendulum generating a lot of spin, looks like some kind of side and bottom. The serve comes from between the center line and my BH corner and goes to your FH. It is a short serve. I am pivoting around to be ready take the return FH...

Thinks to self: looks like a BS with perhaps a bit of side. What's the curve like? Hmm, a bit there.
2nd: BH push with pips short to your FH. A bit of blade angle to counter the sidespin. Safe looking return (esp as his confidence is down following poor showing in Texas ...).
