LP blockers are a small minority within the LP community and we're always grouped in with choppers, even though we play a completely different game style and strategy. We need to have our own section. Seriously.

Retriever, I'm sure you're being sarcastic by mimicking my words ( :n: ), but I wouldn't care if there's a dedicated section for inverted retriever types. I know a few that play like this. It's a legit style.

What I like most about the forum is the civility of the members. Usually things can get rather nasty on the Internet.

What I don't like is the search function. It seems to just come up with individual posts with the key words - which can be a real dog's breakfast to go through. It would be nice if you had the option to do a search based only on the topic. (I guess this is where someone chimes in and shows me how you can already to just that! ;) )

I would not have won these if it wasn't for you guys. These are my first and I may never win anymore, and I'm sure they pail in comparison to the many medals and trophies won by OOAK members. Thanks guys!

Sorry MNNB, I did not mean to put you or your post down, but I do tend to agree that the emphasis is on particular styles and equipment, whether modern defender or combination rubbers.

timeout! Nice trophies! Good work!

Where in Canada are you from? I'm from Winnipeg.

I like your rubber choices! A true defender's selection!

How old are you? What level do you play?

I'm an old guy, 55. My level is about 1200. I've been playing club for 6 years, I have become a chopper, SP on BH and an inverted on FH that is even slower than Tackiness Chop.

Hi Glen. thanks for responding. I've been running out of things to say lately so I've resorted to posting pics and youtubes, slowing down on the forum and likewise slowing down as I age as well. I'm 45 from Toronto, born and raised.

There are not too many tournys in Toronto and I'm quoting the highest level player that I have played and his is an Ontario Junior. actually he was on the junior squad but now has left it for university. He's a kid that keeps calling me "1k" and from time to time likes to try to beat me with his cell phone. He's 1800 CAN and won the 1200 and under event at my club a few years ago when he was like 16. He says that Ontario players usually have lower ratings are underrated...so I'l just say I'm unrated for now not having played any tournys. Houseleague is more than enough for me and our division one's are tourny players with some in the 2000's.

Hope posting a pic of my trophies wasnt showing any disrespect or an example of boasting or gloating. as I said before I'm just a guy coming up from the basement and reading the OOAK forum gave me so many pointers and introduced me to "real life club" lp players like PB, Dwruck, Jim Weiland, Wturber, etc.so I could compensate for my lack of coaching/experience. Take care.

Ahem...Um, I'm sure I've given some tips in there too Timeout! :P

Nice trophies, btw. Better than any that have been awarded to me in this neck of the woods. We get medals mainly, although I've gotten a few actual trophies along the way, but they aren't as majestic as those. One of these days I'll start a topic and post a pic of all of mine (which can fit actually in one pic cos of their sizes), whereas many of our US members here could not do due to the number and sizes of their trophies

One of the most important lessons that I have learned forum-wise, and I'm sure you had some input here as well, is to be patient when responding to posts...I've been trying to show more maturity as I improve on the table and off the table but I can't hold back here:

Aussie's Rule! Thanks Reb.

I'm afraid so    On the search screen, after you type in your search words (in the usual place), there are Search Options underneath, and if you select the "Topic titles only" it will only return the results that contain your search words in the title of the thread. I hope that's what you meant, ;)

Since we're brainstorming here, any chance of a technique section or subsection for LP blockers, inverted retrievers, and any other styles requiring specialized attention?

It would be great to have these styles in seperate sections... I'm not sure if there would be enough interest to warrant a whole new section or subsection though. The probably with a sub-section is that they're even less visible as well than a standard section.

I'm sure there's at least two-dozen somewhat active LP pushblock-type players on this forum plus many lurkers waiting to chime in. I think there would be a lot of interest in this section.

Darn, haggisv you beat me to it. I was in the middle of editing a simple short video on how to use the search function. It's here and will hopefully be of use to those forum members who find it easier to actually "see" something explained.

If forum members find this type of thing useful, I can make others on functions available in the forum but people either don't know how to use or want help using.
