There is a $1500 option that would apply brakes to car in city if someone fails to stop in time before hitting stationary object, which is often case in text while driving.

How much is your life or someone's life worth?

Why cant we wait to text? ... because we want everything right now.

Don't carry it in our pocket even??

Just look at the Apple warning for the iPhone, which clearly states to never even use your phone near your head or even carry it in your pocket

Apple wrote:
“For optimal mobile device performance and to be sure that human exposer to RF energy does not exceed the FCC, IC, and European Union guidelines, always follow these instructions and precautions: When on a call using the built-in audio receiver in iPhone, hold iPhone with the dock connector pointed down toward your shoulder to increase separation from the antenna. When using iPhone near your body for voice calls or for wireless data transmission over a cellular network, keep iPhone at least 15 mm (5/8 inch) away from the body, and only use carrying cases , belt clips, or holders that do not have metal parts and that maintain at least 15 mm (5/8″) separation between iPhone and the body.”

These mobile phone towers are popping up here, there and everywhere.

Now call me a theorist but are they actually needed?

Or use later for a more sinister plan?

Personally I think the effect is very minimal. The radiation is relatively low and non-ionising, so it tends to only produce localised heating effects, which is very unlikely to do damage to tissue. There have been numerous test done on mice to see what effect this type can radiation can cause, usually done at much higher dosage, and the results seem always inconclusive.

Of course there can always be risks that we have not considered, and of course the phone companies play it safe, covering themselves with any potential risk however small.

The people who live near them seem to suffer from what i can gather. Sleeping problems and headaches especially. Some believe these towers can be used for other purposes! Google cell phones the David Ickes forum. Would you buy a house haggisv near one of these towers cause i certainly would not?

A girl in my town was drinking through a straw for months thanks to her phone, tell her they aren't dangerous. They are when you text down the highway and have a head on with another girl @ 100km/h. Bad luck for her the next car after that was the cops but good luck the one after that was an ambulance both going to to local festival.

She was a sporty girl too, no more netball for her as she broke half her important bones.

The best brain surgeon in Australia hates mobile phones but gets in trouble every time he says something about them. Last time he just said, look.. All I'm saying is since cell phones became popular the incidence of tumours above the ears has gone off the chart, you work it out...

Its well documented the NSA can pin point your location and altitude just as accuractly as a GPS via phone towers (can and do). So that's another reason to be dodgy on these kind of things :).

Just to be safe I almost never put my mobile phone to my ear. Just turn the speaker on and listen from 10cm away (its not a terribly loud speaker lol). And yes Silver I have a dumb smart meter and I have my concerns over what the effects of these dang things are...but why should only Victorians be concerned? Don't other people have the brains to worry about hurting? :P

because Victorians are the only ones in Aus with 2.4ghz radios (Zigbees I believe?) in their smartmeters!

According to the anti-smartmeter people, if you're concerned about your smartmeter you should also be concerned about wifi and 3g rf emissions. Don't get too close to your wifi router!

A smart-meter is an electricity (or other) meter that can transmit data back to the utility company for billing and data collection Hookshot. Pretty sure the US has them, but maybe not in all areas.

Silver, what frequency do the smart meters in other places transmit on then? And there is so much 2.4ghz frequency usage around these days I guess we get fried from all angles. I just don't think it helps that mine sits on the other side of my brick wall to my bedhead :swear:

Power levels drop off dramatically over distance, so unless you're really close it's not worth worrying about.

2.4 GHz wireless increase IgE antibody's in your blood and it is possible to develop hypersensitivity because of it. It doesn't affect the vast majority of the population _much_ but there are definite negative effects as there are to almost everything modern and not part of human nature. I'm trying to get in the habit of switching off the wireless on everything overnight but there are so many things to switch off these days.
