I find it fascinating to read how people perceive the different table tennis forums, in terms of the type of people each forums attracts, the strengths and weakness of each forum, and the type of content that's mostly discussed.

Currently, My table tennis, table tennis daily and ooak table tennis forum are by far the most dominant (English speaking) forums. Each one has a following and style, and I'm sure we like them for different reasons.

For those of you that visit multiple forums, how do you see the differences between them, and why do you favour one over another?

PS I'm genuinely interested in how people see the different forums, it's is not an attempt to boast about how good I think this forum is. ;) So feel free to be as honest as you like.

If this one were the best then I would rather the world not know about it. I love the feeling that this is a smaller group sharing secrets, about alternate styles and materials especially (but not exclusively, not with an atmosphere of exclusivity), as though we are preparing for battle against the dominant-style hoarde. At least that's how it feels to me. And my instinct is that good feelings are fragile.

I like this forum for several reasons:
1. Lots of interest and discussion on equipment. Particularly "junk" rubber. Best source in english world.
2. I love the international nature.

I only visit mytt forum and not the other UK based one. There is only so much time in the day. I enjoy both very much and learn a lot from others.

I read this forum and Mytt. This is best for LP users, Mytt is better for inverted rubbers and blades. Here is usually much more interesting discussions for me than in the Mytt forum.

I also read now and then some German or French forums by Google translate, if I am interested in some particular equipment.

OOAK is my favorite by far. I lurk the other sites, but don’t participate as much. I like the feeling here, as Zhaoyang pointed out, just smaller nicer more specific to my interests. I also find the culture here more accepting and gentler of newbies. And we have our fair share of double inverted players with a wealth of info.

On MYTT, often posts are about being right more than they are about inclusion, socializing, and comradery. Here, it’s the opposite, and more geared towards informing. We are less squabish (To a point) about non-searchers and there is a lot less flaming that occurs here. I see this as a reflection of Alex (HaggisV) and his leadership style.

This just asked in TTD not so long ago, so,

I copy my post from there. :)

MY POST IN TTD

Well,

I have been in Denis forum lo~ng. If including the time I just lurk as ghost guest, that would be 10 years. :)

Wiggy, JKC, Denis, TTenthu, Speedplay, Wingspan, Haggisv, VincentB, DTop, Izraphel, PPPaddy, Timo_Boll, SoM, etc, all of them are nice people. Well, most are quite hotheaded people for Indonesian standard. :)<s

I remember following weeks per weeks JKC project on raising His Son, or VincentB quest, and Wiggy “duels” against famous old player.

Long story short,

Thanks to Tapatalk, I came to Table Tennis Daily, OOAK, and Table Tennis Forum.

Dunc, Dan, Der Echte, Carl, Pippy, Ross Leidy, Lorre, Iskandar, Tareq, etc

I do love reading Nexy and Ross Leidy journal in Ooak. That gave me insight on technical aspect in table tennis

On the other hand, I tend to find that I can find much resources on “on hand” aspect of table tennis in TTD. The update much faster than other forum.

Well,

I thank you all for the great experiences. :)

When I looked at mytt couple days days ago the top thread was a good old fashion schoolyard bullying over Coach K, which show the kind of people with control there.

You are right when old topics turn up in searches it's often the same few people posting the same thing with the same drama, which is strange when there are so many players worldwide. I think the problem may be the small groups not be the draw as everyone already inside the echo chamber might think. Most people don't care to read the same things over again so you are left with a few who do. And when they run the place of course they keep things the same. Many companies have the same problem, and use money to bribe new blood to join in, but online forums can't do this.

I only bother with OOAK, though I'm a member of TTD. Just find the expertise and content here much more relevant to my style of play, and therefore generally more interesting.

OOAK is the only one I post on, though I read MyTT & TTDaily. Partly that is because it is Australian, but also I enjoy the "vibe" that it has.

I find MyTT very US-centric and US in character.

TTDaily often has interesting threads that suffer from hijacking - too lightly moderated?

Not too sure why I only post on OOAK but when it goes quiet I do have a look at myTT.
Sometimes from a search tabletennisdaily comes up.
I have on the rare occasion gone looking on a german forum but it's hard going using a translator.
In the past I have posted some experiences that are not equipment related and have appreciated the mature responses that I've received.
I think the reason why I post here even though I've little or no interest in LP is down to how it's moderated.
So a big thank you to Haggisv and his team.
