I've implemented it, you can see it in my profile. How does it look?
I've limited the field size to 20 chars, so that it does not scroll to the next line.

You can add in your own details by editing your 'Profile' from the User Control Panel

The only problem is you now have the equipment listed under your profile on the left of the screen and under every post you write. That's double entry and extra clutter and people use the text under their posts to raise forum members attention about their blogs and worthy campaigns like:
"join the haggsiV is for video campain today".

WOW! Thanks for implementing my idea Alex! Now I feel like I've really had an influence around here. Looks great! It'll take time for people to change their signatures I'm sure.

The equipment looks great on our profiles. I think it would be a further improvement if we kept the original date when we joined the forum, but omitted the time of day when we signed up. First, this would save a line. And secondly, does it really matter whether we joined in the morning, afternoon or night?

Good point... I'll look into that too! Edit: Done, see my profile to the left!

It's actually something you do yourself. Go to the User Control Panel and Board Preferences, then set 'My date format:' to 'Custom', then set it to 'd M Y'.
Note that you'll now see that format not just for your profile, but for everyone else's as well.

Only one issue with this is that it changes this date format everywhere and on every screen. Removing the time also means you can no longer see the time that a post was posted. We can probably fiddle further with the format so that it still show some of time, yet does not cross into double lines in the profile.

When I came back to this thread I wondered what you and MNNB were talking about. I still saw your profile as showing date and time. It's only when I changed my own so it displayed as "Joined: 28 Jun 2008" that I realised what you meant. If you don't change it, you'll still see everyone's including the hour and minutes, even those people who say they've changed it such as haggviS and MNNB.

I prefer it. As long as visibly losing the hour and minutes doesn't confuse the "view active topics" section I like it too.

People spoiling the result of matches that I want to watch in the threads!

I know it's a bit hard to prevent because that's what the main discussion is about!

But sometimes you get posts that say straight out "Shiono WINS" and even worse then that is the full play by play of the match typed!!!!
