I'm just looking into getting a media player for streaming video. Although I've got Netflix via my AppleTV, I'd like like to run Kodi on something, as it has access to so much more content. The Amazon FireTV sounds really good, although it's not actually availble in AU, so I'd have to buy online or via ebay. The Nvidea Shield sounds really good too, but I think an overkill. Do any of you run Kodi on any hardware that you can recommend? |

We use small PCs running Linux, and install Kodi on them. The ones we use are these: https://www.novatech.co.uk/pc/range/nov ... npi17.html Works a treat. Control it from an Android tablet (the Android app is better than the Mac one) |

I use a Chromebox, modified to run LibreELEC, so it runs like a stand alone Kodi player. A little effort to get it working initially, but fine thereafter. I also have in the bedroom a HP Pavilion 300 mini PC, which came with Windows, and is about the same size as the Chromebox: much less appliance-like, but also more flexible. Otherwise, I'd look on the AVForum, or Kodi forum, to see what cheap boxes are around that actually work. A lot of the bargain Android boxes are problematic. And make sure that what you want to stream is actually available on Kodi. For table tennis streaming, I found it simpler to use a Chromecast mirroring my PC running Chrome browser. |
