Ever wonder where that term "journeyman" came from? It's often used to describe sport pros of the lower rankings (i.e. someone competent enough to make a living at a sport but not good enough to be in its top ranks). I've always knew it had something to do with the blue collar professions (e.g. plumbers, carpenters and the like), especially rank and file, competent individuals within such professions, but never actually wondered about the "journey" bit. Well, now I know.
