Post subject:  Have you ever typed a long post and then.....disaster?
I don't care to recall the number of times I've typed a post and after nearing the end somethings happened to my browser or computer and bang, its all gone. The sense of loss can be quite overwhelming. Frustration! Annoyance. Anger! Disbelief.

It happened to me again tonight while typing an infrequent Reb Report. My Anti-virus wanted to restart for an update as I typed and one of the keys I typed was taken to be a Re-start as the update dialog took over the focus. So my PC shut down and away went my post with it. I really hoped given it was an irregular shut down that Chrome would still have my post when it restarted. Alas, it started with just a clean screen. All hope was lost....and then it wasn't. I looked in the history just to see if the tab was there. It wasn't. No OOAK tab to be seen. However, there was an entry that said 5 tabs recently closed. I clicked on it and dada! There was my entire "lost" post. (So now you may go and read what I wrote :lol: ). But more importantly if you didn't know about this, in future if you lose a big post, I suggest you give this a try. Might make everyone's forum use just that little bit more satisfying. :up:

I'll try that the next time it happens... :lol: Hasn't happened in a while, fortunately. I've managed to save a couple of long posts by copying and pasting into Notepad when something bad happens, such as it refusing to post when you hit the "Submit" button.

That's certainly happened to me on a number of times! I've also used the reopen recently closed tabs feature, but sometimes that hasn't helped either.

My advice nowadays is to write posts in a text editor or something like Evernote, then paste and submit once finished.

Man that must be frustrating. Hasn't happened to me yet on any forum thankfully. But I know it will sooner or later.
