Have you watched the Ping Pong WC review by TableTennisDaily?

Ping pong matches actually seem to be a lot of fun: a crowd of spectators, much like football fans (with banners and even a drum!), cheering and supporting their players even during a point; music; and beer! Do you think any of that could benefit table tennis and make it more popular?

For the uninitiated - these are played with sandpaper. Identical bats (they even switch bats when they switch ends). GBP100,000 dwarfs any prize money I've ever seen at ITTF champs...

Do all ping pong players use the same racket handle type?

Looks quite good, a lot close closer to table tennis than TTX. Great video by Dan!

As far as I know.

I must say, I enjoyed the format and the quality of play. Far better than previous iterations in Las Vegas.

I'm amazed how well they can play 'loop style' strokes, consider it's sandpaper! :o

Note the angle of the bats - quite a bit more open than you'd expect with inverted rubber. The strokes are also more vertical (though not as much as the old "classic" hardbat topspin drive that you see Reisman use). The speed of the ball is also quite a bit slower. Some of those counter"looping" rallies are pretty long.

Actually, there's been quite a bit that's been posted about previous years' Ping Pong Champs on this forum - a matter of searching. I wonder if Parker Brothers still owns the Ping Pong trademark - this was a really contentious issue back in the 1920s or so... there were rival Table Tennis and Ping Pong champs, and players who took part in one were often banned from the other.

Nice to see some traditional penholders. I wonder if they are allowed to shorten the blade handle.
