If I make an underspin serve, I prefer someone to make a pure underspin push. However, some players give me this deep, not very spinny side/under push to my pips. What's the best way to deal with this?

Can't you loop/drive it back, just continuing the spin that's already there? If there is some underspin and it passes the table edge, you should be able to add a significant amount of spin with your pips, so in effect you get something like a sideways loop return.

I know, it's easier against a pure underspin, you can just smack it. However, with my pips (CK531a, so little grip, and on thin sponge) I find that it is just a matter of adjusting the bat angle. Heavy incoming sidespin may make it harder for you to aim well, but if you are able to forward that spin too, it could give your opponent some trouble.

Then again, I don't face a lot of really good players ...

Can you flip it and attack it sending it back at a very wide angle with top sidespin?
