Post subject:  What difference between LPs & Inverted Chopping?
Hello! I just started to change my style from Close-table attacker to Modern Defender (LPs with sponge on Backhand). For the topspin shot, I can chop with my Inverted by brushing the ball but my LPs I can't do that. Someone told me that using LPs need to keep the bat flat, contact the back or top-back of the ball (For topspin ball) and Hit & Brush the ball. I think for bending the pips right?

Another question, Does it true about LPs need smoother stroke and touch than Inverted rubber ?

Haven't got time to go to details right now, but yes brush into the back of the ball at the bottom to have it bite the pips and return. A long stroke is good for this. The stroke itself is much the same as with inverted, but the LP's generally make it easier to control the ball and direct it the way you want. Different LP's will produce differing levels of spin, Inverted will give the most spin if struck just right, but are harder to vary the spin with. There are plenty of vids around to watch choppers doing their thing. Hunt around the forum for them.

XD im a double inverted, planning to get introduced to lps with a reaaaallly grippy invert-like lp; Feint long 3. Still waiting for november though.

Blade more towards horizontal for inverted compared to lp`s.Feint 3 will allow you a blade angle closer to inverted than most lp`s

Inverted strokes tend to be more horizontal because you have to negotiate a steeper throw angle. Best to take the ball in front of your body on the BH and below table height. far harder if ball is to the side. More spin created against less Spinny players.

LPs allow you to take the ball more perpendicularly, and at any height. You can ignore sidespin a bit (not totally). Balls outside your body line are far easier. Most spin potential vs Spinny players because you borrow spin and add to it. Does not generate much spin if any at all.

to add,

regardless of pips or inverted,

generally your chop will be more horizontal with more spin sensitive rubber, assuming same incoming loop. ;)
