Slow, spinny loops are far and away the hardest shot for me to chop and that upsets the consistency of my game fairly severely (maybe the answer is to hit those?)
Majority of SP chops are far heavier than any LP chop (even with 0.5mm P1-R) but if someone powerloops one of your chops, giving you little time to react/play the perfect technique, you end up floating the ball

SP modern defender since April this year. I've found out that stiff woods helps a lot. i've used the usual suspects SP and ended with the normal Spectol ~ 1,7-1.8 mm on a Tibhar Stratus Samsonov CB. Who likes it a bit slower I recommend the Tibhar White Sword. If you don't mind heavy woods I would highly recommend BBC X-Fusion TC, as well !
Anyone can recommend a even slower wood and still on the stiff side ?

JSH ... Seems to feel not too slow to my understanding. Actually I have tried it many times ( bought, sold, bought, sold.

.. ) hard to find <100 gr. If I compare it to my current racket, I would rate the JSH even faster .... Perhaps because it's more heavy. Beside the speed. The backspin one could produce with JSH and e.g. Spectol is just not from this world

1.0mm is probably too thin if you want to put backspin on chops.
Interesting remark about LP stroke.
A friend of mine plays with LP usually but he is well capable of chopping with SP.
Interestingly, I totally suck at chopping with LP.
I feel like I have zero control on my return (speed and spin).

Not easy because you really have to go pick up that ball really close to the ground sometimes. Against powerloops, there are few options: . Fast chop blocks (even from far away) . Move away faster from the table to have more time to react so you can chop normally (underspin or side spin) . Twiddle and counter loop with inverted . Block with SP at the table

Check out this guy practicing BH SP chops. He is around 2780 (US ratings). Spectol Speed on BH and Hurricane 3 on FH with Joo blade.

Notice the BH spin variation causing a lot of problems even for a 2600+ (USATT) player. Same match, different angle. Awesome variation of pushes and chops (length and spin)!!!

Have you tried the Tibhar Samsonov Alpha? It's pretty stiff also and slower than your current blade for sure. The new one with blue handle has a normal sized head.... still maybe too small for defense.

I am trying out SP since I don't as much spin with the plastic ball as with the old. I just realised that 1.0 mm is too thin for chooping and be able to generate much back spin on fast loops. Mostly dead balls sent back. But I must say my thechnique is all made for LP. I would need a little more wrist snap. But I think 1.5 mm would do a lot in that aspect. Otherwise chopping can be done almost like with LP, at least for me.

But you should have won the first set, you missed a few BH attacks with the pips (you actually missed many bh attacks with pips). When you played safe and with back spin you won most points.

From my point of view your chopping game is really quite good. Your floated SP chops caused a lot of difficulties for your opponent. Personally though I think you let yourself down trying to attack too often with the SPs. You won 2 points in the match directly or indirectly from attacking on your backhand... and I lost track of the number of times you directly lost points by netting/hitting off. I think you should start your matches by "playing tight", i.e. forcing the opponent to win, and that means not giving them points by trying to hit ambitious shots on your backhand. Your forehand let you down but I've seen you play that really well in practice so I guess it was just one of those days!
