I know we don't have a massive amount of SP players on here so I thought it might be effective to come at this from the opposite angle.

If you were playing against a SP player - maybe a double SP hitter or a SP chopper - what strategies would you use to try and defeat them?

For playing against SP hitters: Never pop the ball up. Direct balls to their elbow. Your backspin is their friend.

I agree with this.

Try to drive SP players off the table. If you can get them into a middle distance exchange you will win.

I am unsure about tactics against sp but I am very sure about being hammered by two different kinds of opponents with sp.

The first is a sp shakehander. Off the wings he initiated loop style attacks off my slow bh pip blocks. He took the initiative with attacking strokes, off the bounce, and put me under pressure right away plus his shots felt flat and weird unlike spinny balls from inverted. For this particular sp player, I can't give him anything to hit so that means no high balls which other players could have difficulty with - i figure a faster blade would help here.

The second kind of sp player was a penholder holder who showed great ability to smash any ball from me...but I got the upper hand on him with variation and placement mixing it up only playing with a much slower blade.

So how would I play against a short piper?...for me its the choice between using a slow blade or a fast bladebecause my style is so one dimensional.
