Hit a few genuine loops last night during matches, not very fast but the contact was good, nice and fine. Despite my opponents often getting plenty of bat on it, the returns tended to either pop up or go long.

ocourse it also depends on the quality of the first attack.. it has to be deecent enough not to allow for an easy counter attack

Not much of that to worry about at my level.

Watched a video by Andrew Rushton at Preston TTC . He mentions 5th ball attack. He uses the 3rd ball to do a spinny loop to set up the attack on the 5th ball. At my level I can see this will work so will give that a try.

Hey Cobalt,

Let me know how you get on with that...I was trying it last night!

I was aiming to get a nice spinny 3rd ball attack off a low push and then attack the 5th.

The problem I got was that with attacking the first push (along the lines of always attack anything long if possible) my opponents grew to become ready for it and more often than not they then got a counter hit on my 3rd ball.

Though I was waiting for a topspin/block off my 3rd ball to then topspin/loop the 5th, my consistency was low if they got a really decent counter hit on my 3rd ball.

So I presume that my 3rd ball is not strong enough...which leads into how to get a nice slow spin shot off a low push that is difficult for the opponent to attack.

Trying to kill/loopkill the 3rd ball seems quite risky as often alot of my own spin comes back with the push off my serve, and/or the push is very low/strong.

Help?

In practice it was working well, I was doing a short serve with little spin which was bringing them forward then trying to get a loop deep which made it hard for them to attack as they weren't quite settled. Perhaps your level is better than mine or the players I played weren't that attacking. Check out my new vids to see what level I'm at.
