Supposed evolution of the Flick or Chiquita :-D



Some differences like dropping of the elbow and more wristy/forearm power.

Everything I've seen about the Banana Flick (also known as the Dole or Chiquita, depending on the brand of bananas sold in your supermarket) says to do exactly what the videos show. Elbow up, wrist cocked all the way down, generation of as much rotation and racket speed as possible. The second and third videos show pretty much the same as the first, except the first one uses a thinner contact resulting in less speed and more spin. The third video is also RPB. The fourth? That's not a banana flick (it's a forehand shot). Not sure what the point here is.

The Banana Flick is NOT the same thing as the "Flick" or "Flip" (or "Half Volley" if you read some of the really old books from the 50s) - it's a relatively modern stroke. And as far as I know it's strictly on the backhand. The Flick/Flip has been around since the hardbat era, probably even earlier.

(And Igor's video has, as usual, NOTHING to do with the topic at hand... :lol: :lol: :lol: )

In pro play the most recent change is players NOT flicking the ball when they could and doing a short push.

They are all trained to return that flick ball so now the change up is to push and catch the other player off guard as they expect the flick.

A bit like poker. 60-80% of the time flick the ball and then push the rest of the time. Poker players do the same thing with certain hands to keep others 'honest'.

This given service "made in Siberia" was designed purposefully to frustrate all the flippers. It is worth so much to be mentioned in this thread, I believe.
And this service shall get much more followers after a short while. I believe.
