Hi! I was watching a video of Satoshi Aida play in the 2015 US open and he is a double inverted chopper/attacker. A fascinating style, and one shot he hit over and over was a soft, no spin or dead push. It was crazy for his opponent. The announcers said he had great ability to "take pace off the ball".

Any suggestions on how best to accomplish this? He looked as though he has very soft hands, but any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

It is very hard to play with soft-hands and neutralize spin+speed coming from the opponent and that too with Mark V inverted rubbers !!!

Satoshi Aida is an amazingly talented and one-of-a-kind type of player  :-)

You probably should try to read incoming spin and speed with a live opponent / partner. That way you can figure out the exact stroke and direction to cancel out the elements on the incoming ball.

Sorry if my reply is not very useful :-P I think too complex a question. Not at all easy for a beginner like me :-D And I am going to take a guess you are a beginner too and it is the same with you too.

A good training for this,

ask your peer to feed you with drives, and,

block it with minimal movement, aim for double bounces.

You shall soon understand that this are super difficult. [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]
