Welcome Anakin. And welcome back to the game as well. How are you adapting to the changes in the game since the last time you played. The 40mm plastic ball is a at very from the 38mm celluloid ball. Do you use the same blade or have you changed blades as well?

Hi, I'm Eduardo! I have 23 years and I'm from Portugal. I play here in 2 leagues. I play 1 league in Sporting CP and other league in Academy 8th January(probably you don't know this one).

- I play TT since 2006/2007;

- Until now I had a style similar to Tiago Apolonia, mid distance FH oriented looper. I've been working to change my playstyle closer to the table and not so FH oriented and changed to SP on backhand. Not because I don't know how to play BH, it's because to me it's more natural to block, punch, hit the ball with my BH on match play, so I thought I could be more effective with SP on BH!

- I'm a intermediate player around here, for now I usually pratice 2 times a week, sometimes 3;

- Outside TT I'm taking Computer Engineering degree, that I hope to finish this year! ;)

- My hobbies are exercise, game development and drawing;

- I usually check this forum because it talks more about pips, and I like to see threads about pips though I've never used. But now after I changed to SP, I think it will be useful to have an account here! ;)

My setup ->
Blade: Avalox BT777
FH: 729-08 49º
BH: 802-40 35º 2.0mm

A video from me playing(I'm the younger one), here without sp and testing a 99g blade, so I almost couldn't loop :p --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJPrf4SlizE&t=322s

Hello Ashley and Eduardo, hope you will enjoy OOAK!

Eduardo, are you based in Lisbon? Visited it in early December, great city, would love to be back at some point.

Hi, I'm Jason.

I've played TT for 30yrs and coach my two boys. My eldest is top 30 in England currently for U15's, he's 13. My youngest is 7 and is highly talented also. They both work really hard.

Hey all,

Just joined up on this forum after lurking on and off.

    I am from the US, I started playing table tennis in March of last year at my new job and as of late, I have been trying to lose some pounds and wanting to improve my singles game so started going to Lee's Table Tennis Club.

    I started out by taking a lesson and it was a blast. The woman who runs it was a player for the Chinese team back in the day. She's awesome.

    I play shakehand grip and I consider myself to be a more forehand offensive player using an Andro Trieber Z blade with Donic Baracuda 1.8mm rubbers on both forehand and backhand. This is my fifth setup that I have used and by far my favorite.

    My previous setups include (went with Andro on all since Megaspin was giving an additional 15% off):
    Andro Kinetic ALL+ with Andro Good 2.1mm rubbers,
    Andro OFF+ paired with Andro Rasanter R47 BH, R42 FH 2.1mm
    Andro HiLoom paired with Andro Rasanter R42 FH, R37 BH 2.1mm. (Least favorite blade of all)
    Andro Treiber Z with Andro Rasanter R42 FH and R37 BH 2.1mm

    I wish I had a rating to tell you guys but roughly I'm beginner/intermediate level. I'm not terrible, but I'm also not good by any means.

    My job is in the information technology area, more specifically telematics.

    Other hobbies I do include Golf, indoor rock climbing, and video games on occasion.

    I stumbled on this forum by doing a search sometime ago when I was trying to find a solid racket setup. There was one thread specifically that I liked that talked about the differences of hard blade vs soft blade paired with different firmness of rubbers and so on. Some Japanese article, really helpful.

I'm definitely looking forward to gaining a wealth of knowledge and hopefully some people I can play table tennis with eventually.

--
Robert

Hi there,

Mark from sunny and green Sydney, AU (No there is no parrot on my shoulder, she just flew away lol)

  • Shakehand'er
  • Started playing as novice somewhere in January 2018.
  • First self-assembled racket in September 2018 and the first session outside of "garage" in TT club happened in September too.
  • Best advice I ever received regarding the choice of TT equipment was from EmRat youtuber - use all wood blade and hard Chinese tacky rubbers.
  • Followed the advice and after 7 months found myself beating players in division 4 and even 3 (Australian rating).
  • Favourite TT player - XX, for his creativity and courage to improvise during competition
  • Would like to develop a backhand like FZD's.
  • Nearly every Sunday evening me and mates play TT "competition" near Marsfield, NSW. We beat the hell out of each other LOL. Keen to join?

When I am not busy with TT I work in the office building software projects and managing programmers.

Hi fmarek,

Welcome to OOAK forums. I am on the northern beaches myself, so not that far from you. I play in the SNDTTA comp. Mac Uni has some teams in it, which isn't far from where you said. Unfortunately I just strained my hammy last week (running from car to TT club in the rain) so won't be playing at least this week and maybe not next week :( .

How do you play? I would imagine forehand attacker with the H3. Both wing attacker?

Can you guess my style?

Hey, sorry for your injury, wish you to recover quickly.

I am till learning, picking up advises here and there. Unlike BH, my FH attack is not that strong so H3 rubber is meant to fix that. I was told it is not forgiving rubber because of low throw.

You play carbon with T5 on it. Very unlikely you are defender LOL
