Definitely a nice serve. If you can be consistent with it and be able to quickly direct it to the opposite side of the table serving just as fast, it'd be a killer. Can't say I use anything like it myself really, but getting the sidespin is a matter of snapping the wrist so the bat glances into the side of the ball at impact.

It's pretty much all there in the clip...and in slo-mo too. Pay attention to where the ball bounces on your side - ie close to the corner. This serve is most effective if you are a right hander serving to a left-hander (or vice-versa) as it jams into the BH and has good surprise value. It is not as effective for RH to RH or LH to LH as the ball spins in to your opponent's FH making it a pretty easy return. For RH to RH or LH to LH it is best to do the inside-out ones eg here at .27, 2.47, 3.20:

There is also a famous one Waldner did against Samsonov (I think in the 1997 world final) but I don't have the link handy.

I bet that floor was pretty clean by the 35th take. the 'floor cleaning' was just to make it look random.

But he still managed to do it twice in the same take, so it's pretty nice. And the guy is pretty skillfull in doing other crazy stuff too.

I'm not saying he's not brilliantly skillfull, but there is no way that is as consistent as it has been made to look. His success rate would be nearer to 1 in 10 or less, but of course, if he does it for long enough, 2 or 3 might come along together. The meaningless sweeping up is designed to make it look random, not a snippet out of a two hour attempt.
