One thing I was practicing today was a shortserve with back/sidespin then attacking the next shot. Seemed to be working. My usual way to serve is to mix them all up long, short, topspin, sidespin, backspin, tomahawk etc but now I'm thinking this one serve might become my stock serve with the others just thrown in occasionally. Today was only practice so wasn't about winning points, moreso practicing attacking the 3rd ball however what I noticed is that by doing this one serve over and over, it nearly always got returned to the same place and more often than not I was able to put it away or at least being my attack. It it a valid strategy to keep doing the same serve and use variation as a surprise tactic or over time mixing it up gain more results. |
