They're usually not twist the waist much (esp not to the left) but shifting their hips to create the desirable angle. Or more technically, the angles between the femur and hip bone. You can try this.

That's what I meant by "waist". "Waist" isn't just the lumbar vertebrae.

Incidentally - didn't Brett say part of using this stance was to get lower to the table?

Yes, but kneeing down to the ball works same as when standing more square (does anyone really stand 100% square for fh?)

There aren't that many hard and fast rules to service. I remember watching a slow-mo cap of the CCTV5 commentator who used to be on the CNT, and she had a serve obviously from the hidden era which was low near the gut and seemingly mechanically awkward (but well hidden with the downward left arm). She wasn't tall so stood pretty straight. It was still 64rps....with pips.
