Details of the OOAK Awards 2010 can be read here

Calling for nominations for:

9. Manufacturer of the year 2010

- Manufacturer with the greatest innovation or development of new ideas or products for the benefit of players and/or our sport.

Please post your nominations here.

How is this run?
We will have a number of categories for the awards. For each category we will start a new thread asking for nominations for one week. At the end of the week, we will start a poll where members vote for their top 3 choices. Polls are closed after a week, and the winner is announced.

What's the award for the winners?
I will (any help would be much appreciated!) create an "OOAK Hall of Fame" page, where winners and the runner-up will be listed. Every year the new winners will be added.

Nominations so far:
Adam aka Makepaddle
BladesByCharlie.com
CTT (makers of National Pogo)
Dawei
Friendship 729
Giant Dragon
Palio
Peter Freundlieb aka TT-Piet
Re-Impact
Ross Leidy
SpinLord
Valor Table Tennis
Yinhe (Galaxy)

I think some of the Chinese companies have come a long way. Quality control is improving, but not quite there yet. I am trying more Chinese products and liking them a lot. Yinhe (Galaxy) is great on blades and Friendship 729 is great for rubbers. Price is good. If the quality of their products is more consistent, that will be good. Although the internal Chinese market is huge, these company should expand more internationally.
So, I nominate these 2.

Can I nominate myself? Valor Table Tennis. My hardbats have been used to win national hardbat championships in the USA since I started the business in 2007, including the 2010 US Open Hardbat Championship.

I'm not sure whether either of them would seem themselves as manufacturers, but because of the huge amount of interest they seem to have generated in their work I would like to nominate Ross Leidy and makepaddle.

What are the criteria for the term "manufacturer"?

What about splitting the category between the "big" firms and the smaller custom firms?

Good idea... I can still do that when I open this up for a vote. The tricky bit is to determine which are the big and which are the smaller firms though...several seem right in the middle, and in some cases I simply don't know...

You could offer them the Goldilocks award, not too small, not too large...just right:)
