Tapatalk is now installed for everyone with a smartphone to use. Silver and nathanso have tested it (cheers guys! ), and they seem to think it worked OK.

it would be good to get some feedback from those that are going to use it. Post here if you need more details or help...

Here are some of the details with pictures from the tapatalk website:

I wonder if anyone is using tapatalk at all?

If no-one uses it, I'd be tempted to remove it...

I use it pretty much every day. Paid a few bucks for the Android app so I hope you don't throw in the towel just yet!

Could someone explain what it is and how it is more useful than just jumping on the browser on my android?

Jumping on the Android-based browser has several disadvantages:

Page load times are slow
Each page must be zoomed or tiny text is unreadable
Tiny links hard to press even when zoomed

Tapatalk is an Android app you download (USD2.95) from either your wireless carrier's app store or from an Android app repository like AppBrain. It connects to the OOAK web browser using your userid/password, downloads select forum data, and presents OOAK's content in its own screens which are optimized for a phone-sized screen. Buttons replace links. Text is larger. And pages contain only 3-4 threads, not 20-30. You can post replies, start new threads, read and reply to PM's, etc. It also pops an Android notification when you get a PM or when a watched thread gets a new post.

Once you use Tapatalk you'll cringe when you inadvertently launch your Android-based web browser to view OOAK as it takes so much longer to load and presents the aforementioned hassles.

BTW I've just upgraded to the latest version... hopefully there are some improvements too.
For anyone using it, please let us know.

BTW I can switch off the option that automatically put in the line about posting with your mobile at the end of your post... would users like this on or off?

Strangely enough I downloaded this and started using it yesterday, before Alex's post. I really like it so far.

Turn it off, at least for me that line takes up space but is virtually useless :)
